Sweet-Heart

IMG_1640

This little door wreath is for my Dear Eldest Daughter….she has chickens, and when I saw the chicken wire wreath frame, I knew I needed to make something for her with it.

With Valentine’s day fast approaching I opted to make it to celebrate the occasion.

Ages ago, I had found these cute little pink heart Christmas bulbs after Christmas on sale, bought them and tucked them away. They came in handy to decorate the wreath for Valentine’s Day.

Market Inspiration Day 2

SAM_0090

Fig Tree and Pieces from my Heart had 2 of the most inspirational booths at the show. I loved the Q-tip flower balls…great idea, need to keep that in mind.

Hugs’ n Kisses had her fabulous display of Hexie projects, A Fashionista Studio had this cute as a button quilt displayed, and I  picked up the easy templates for the folded star class.

Organization 2014

SAM_9561

I am mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore…..I was sick and tired of my bobbin nightmare. Threads and bobbins everywhere. They roll onto the floor, they get caught under the fabric I’m sewing, the threads never stay wrapped and more often than I want to admit….a thread has hitched a ride on my socks or pants  from the sewing room up the stairs and into the kitchen dragging behind it a 100 meter trail of worthless thread. I’ve stepped barefoot onto many a plastic projectile only to yelp and bounce in pain.  Fighting with multiple bobbins tangled together with a mish mash of knotted and matted mess, finally getting so ticked that a hack job with scissors was the only way to get a bless-ed bobbin in hand.

I bought a package of extra small pony tail elastics that fit perfectly around the bobbin sealing all those threads in place.

All organized and pretty in pink!

Vintage do-over

SAM_9054SAM_9055

Found this wonderful French provincial looking coffee table at a local vintage store a while back and immediately thought of Dear Eldest Daughter. She is getting married in May and they have purchased a home but are not living there yet nor do they have any furniture. She has been collecting pieces here and there that have been redone in a Shabby Chic look, sort of Paris theme. When I saw this solid wooden piece I knew it would be perfect.

I sanded it down, then layered the piece with flat black paint, grey primer, and finally an antique white. Once dry I sanded some of the areas that would have had the most wear over the years and VoilĂ !….an awesome vintage redo…and she loves it!  What a great find for $30.00.
