Goodies for the girls

I like to give a little something away to the students who attend my classes, it’s always fun to have a little giveaway at the end of the class.  Elaine’s name was drawn for this cute little holiday apron.

I embroidered it on my machine and the design is from Embroidery Library.

It’s starting to look like winter

Inside and out! It was a great time to finish up my Grab and Go felting project and put it on display. I have a few of these (not completed) stashed away and am trying to get them completed seasonally. I did miss the autumn  one but am pleased that the snowmen are done.

They really do look nice with a candle jar sitting on them or just out on the coffee table. They go together quite quickly when you have a few minutes of downtime as they are all pre-cut and come complete with absolutely everything included, even the needle.

Onesie, Twosie, Threesie…Four

Our goddaughter and niece Julianne just had her second child…Gregory, born on the 25th of June… a little peanut weighing in at 6lbs.15 oz.  I thought it would be fun to make her a few little things to celebrate his birth. I made this sweet little onesie to celebrate Canada Day and it’s a newborn size so it would fit perfectly.

He’s also a little brother to Charlotte so a couple of little brother T’s in different sizes was perfect as well. Plus what little boy shouldn’t have a Sherriff shirt in his wardrobe. These were all really easy to make…the Canada Day shirt was embroidered on my machine and then I appliqued the maple leaf. The others were iron on’s and super simple to do as well .

Boo-tiful

When I was at Houston Market in the fall, I picked up one of these Grab and Go kits. I wished I had bought a few more as they were so simple and fun to do and went together so quick. Absolutely everything was included in the kit, even the needle. They are truly a grab and go. I worked on this while I was in Grand Cayman and it went together in a  couple of nights. Too cute…made of  die cut felt pieces, buttons and thread all packaged together.

Hope these are the only snowmen I see for a while

This cute little embroidery kit is from Turnberry Designs and I’ve been working on trying to complete the embroidery part. It is paired with tiny little quilted blocks which I need to be starting soon if I’m thinking of getting it done before the snow flies again. It suggested that you embroider the noses, but I like these little purchased nose buttons I picked up…so I’m going with them.

Couture Baby Gap

My girlfriend Pat’s daughter is expecting her second child soon…a little girl. I had embroidered little hats for her first grandbaby Owen and she asked if I would do some again for this new little addition.

We started with the little baby gap hats…and with my embroidery machine and some patience aligning ….turned out these really sweet couture hats for Shae!

Easter Stitching

These are always fun little projects to do.  Plus you can never have enough tea towels, especially with bunnies and chicks embroidered on them. I get my embroidery designs from Embroidery Library. They have an amazing selection of designs…..you can get overdosed just looking through trying to decide which designs you like best….I love them all. Even though these are relatively small designs they do take quite a while to complete on my machine. Believe it or not they take on average about 40 minutes to stitch out just one. That can tie up your quilting for a while, especially if you are doing several.   To multitask I set up both my machines at the same time. I  have an embroidery/sewing machine plus another small sewing machine that is lighter which I can take to classes with me or travel with.  While I’m embroidering I quilt on my smaller machine. As they are side by side, I can keep an eye on the embroidery as it works through, changing thread as necessary and still get some of my piecing done at the same time. I wrapped these up and gave them as little gifts this Easter.

Never trust a skinny chef

Never trust a skinny chef, and no chef will be skinnier than this 5 year old. One of my best friends' granddaughter just celebrated her 5th birthday. Her gift was an assortment of crafty things like markers, crayons, sidewalk chalk, super bubbles, animal scissors and an apron specifically made with her in mind. This little apron was purchased at Joann's, but then personalized with her name and some flower trim compliments of my embroidery machine. Her grandma loved it and tells me that Makayla will use it when they cook together. I can't wait to see her in it and taste some of the creations she'll come up with, maybe someday she'll be a master chef.
