The lights are on but nobody’s home!

IMG_1007

Finally finished the last row of my BOM from Quilt Doodle Doodles. The final row for the whole quilt…yippee! I think the little bulbs turned out so cute. The look almost real.

IMG_1008

I’m really going to try and get the quilt finished for the holidays and onto my bed for Christmas Eve. You can find the pattern here http://quiltdoodledesigns.blogspot.ca/p/bom-2014.html

Daisy Chain Cottage

By Wendy Sheppard with fabric by Lynette Anderson called Pocketful  of Daisies

I did want to show you the finished quilt that will be offered as a BOM at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co. in the new year. I am in the process ( you may remember the houses in an earlier post) of completing the sample for the store.

My pictures did not do the quilt justice so I wanted you to see just how beautiful it is.

IMG_0915

These are my 3 little cottages completed and sewn together, picket fences and all. It all looks very complex, however we are breaking down the BOM into nice manageable monthly steps that will be quite do-able.

Ahoy Matey

This is the start of something good….
SAM_0575SAM_0576
I’ve been working on blocks for the BOM that will be offered at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co. this fall. The pattern is from Amy Bradley and called Pirates for Boys and Girls. I’m working on the little boy version, as I have grandsons, however the pattern does have options for girls.

SAM_0547

Another month’s block completed from Quilt Doodle Designs 2014 BOM….this is a free BOM offered by  Cindy and it is super, super cute. You can find the information here http://quiltdoodledesigns.blogspot.ca/2014/08/augusts-block-is-out.html

Everything is starting to come together…I can’t wait to have it all completed and on the bed just in time for Christmas. My apologies but my snowman are incognito and shall remain faceless til quilted.

SAM_9580SAM_9582
I absolutely love snowmen…and I couldn’t wait to start this newest BOM called Quilt Doodle BOM 2014. Cindy’s blog is wonderful and she has been so generous offering this adorable BOM for 2014.  You can find her blog and information about the BOM here http:/quiltdoodledesigns.blogspot.com/p/bom-2014.html
I was really lucky to pull the fabric needed from my stash….which is always a bonus. Can’t wait to see next month’s block!

Orsic Owl

SAM_7462

Usually I’m better than this and have these blocks completed before the next one is posted at Fat Cat Patterns. I was a little behind this month, on what seems to be everything, just not my quilting.

Life is getting in the way!

I like the block but his one eye is bothering me….the right eye is just slightly higher than the left….I didn’t notice it before I touched the iron down and sealed the wonder under in place.

Not sure how long I can let it go…part of me wants to redo the whole block but part of me says….are you really that anal  much of a perfectionist.

I need to let it go, surely to goodness I’m entitled to have one wonky eyed hooter out of  24.  Just means I have to get the next 16 critters perfect.

Stop looking at his eye!

A third of the way complete

SAM_7045
Wow, that was a bit of a haul. Six blocks down and 12 more to go. I hope I keep up, cause that would be painful if I didn’t. This is Fat Cat’s free BOM called Whoo Knows. I fell in love with the pattern the minute I saw it on her blog.  I am totally in love with this quilt so far and this probably is my favourite quilt ever. She gives the pattern for turned under applique method but of course I’m lazy and raw edge was the best avenue for me.
Hoot, Hoot, Hoot Hooray!

Dippet

SAM_7037

Another block finished from Fat Cat’s BOM called Whoo Knows. I hate to fall behind, as it is so hard to catch up.

Dippet, July’s block  is as cute as all the other months and I just love how these are turning out.  It is a lengthily BOM, I think 18 months in all. I just need to focus and get each month completed on time.

Whoo Knows Grizel

SAM_7041

Finally caught up on my Fat Cat free BOM called Whoo Knows. This is block 5 of 18 blocks that make up a wonderful quilt designed by Fat Cat patterns. They just get sweeter every month.

SAM_7042

I have been using my stash to make the blocks, which is awesome, as it’ll be good to make good use of some.  Sindy Rodenmayer of Fat Cat Designs is absolutely amazing to design this pattern and share it with other quilters.

Have you hugged your sewing machine today?

SAM_6646

Another Apples of Gold BOM block completed. Val Laird would probably have a fit that I’m changing up her BOM….I’ve substituted her gorgeous embroidery and verses to fit these cute pre-printed quilt sayings I  picked up when I was in Florida. I love her original designs, I do, I’m just not an accomplished embroiderer. In fact accomplished isn’t the word…let’s face it I suck!

I loved her scrappy design with all the blocks and wanted desperately to do the BOM, but had to improvise or it would have been a train wreck.

I love the way mine looks, and I’ve had no stress with needle and floss.

By needle and thread

SAM_6643SAM_6644

Another block done in my Sulky I love Sewing BOM from Sulky International. I’ve been using scraps and fat quarters I had stashed away and they seem to be coming together just fine. The spools are one of my favourite blocks….

SAM_6645

I’ll have to sew on all the buttons and trim once it’s finally finished and quilted, but for now, let’s just see what they’ll look like once attached….

Gotta love Dogs

SAM_6639SAM_6642

And how could you not with these cute little guys. These are called Crazy Dogs and are a free BOM. The blocks are small just 8.5X8.5 but make a huge impact.

SAM_6640SAM_6641

I’m creating this BOM quilt for my grandson Ayden who thinks each block is more fun than the last. He can’t quite comprehend that it will take a while to get the whole quilt completed.

Whooooo’s this little guy

SAM_6635

Meet Zacharias….from Fat Cat Patterns BOM.  These little guys are so adorable. I look forward so much for the 1st day on the month when I can see the next pattern in the series. SAM_6637SAM_6636

It’s so much  fun, each one seams to have it’s own personality. Half the excitement is deciding what fabric and  colors to use to make them up.

Owl be done in a while

SAM_6565
Three blocks together and 13 more to go. These are the first three blocks completed and together in the BOM  offered by Fat Cat Patterns called Whoo Knows. You can find it here
http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/boms.html
I think there are 16 blocks in total, and it runs til August 2014. This will take a while but will be so worth it when it’s all complete. I’m just loving it so far and have been keeping up with the monthly blocks….well so far anyway.  I have been using up scraps and stash to make the blocks which is a bonus.
Each month seems to be more exciting than the last and the owls seem to get so much cuter as I go along……Whoo Knew?

I’m having a hoot sewing these

SAM_6550

This has to be my favourite BOM ever! I absolutely love it, and it has been so much fun to create. You can find the free pattern here http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/whooknows.html. It is from Fat Cat patterns and is called Whoo Knows.

This is block 3 in the series and is called Renshaws. I cheat and cut the circles for the eyes with my Cuttlebug and a Sizzix circle die. It lets me have perfectly round circles without the scissor cutting.

I have substituted the embroidery yet again for my little quilter saying.  A few flying geese, a couple of patchwork strips and another BOM done….I wish they all went this well!

The Changeup

SAM_6417

I really love this Apples of Gold BOM offered by Val Laird. I love the scrappy look of the quilt and all the little pieces and blocks that make it up. What I was not totally in love with was the hand embroidery…I love hers……hate mine.  I admit freely…I can not embroider.  I haven’t been happy with the second block since it was done so I decided to change it up and I’m liking it alot more now. I had purchased a panel of these cute little quilter sayings while I was in Florida and decided they would look cute substituted for the embroidery. It took a little wrangling to get it to fit but did get them to work in.

SAM_6419

I went back and changed month 2 as well……

SAM_6420

Here’s the first section completed. Now I LOVE it.

Sulky BOM Month 4

SAM_6397

The first 4 blocks are together and it looks pretty good. I have changed the design just a bit…it was suppose to say I love Sewing, but of course I love Quilting .  I did screw up my embroidery a bit and the Q is a little bit too spaced from the u but I’ll stick a few buttons around it and nobody will really notice  I hope…..  You can find the pattern here http://www.sulky-international.de/scripts/clsAIWeb.php?seite_id=200
