I'm over it!

It's my own fault, I did it to myself...yep...I over-ed it.

I overate, overdressed, overwrapped, overdrank, overbaked, overcooked, overbooked, overbought, overdecorated, overornamented (don't laugh, it's a word). I know, I agree, I went overboard and now I'm overtired, overwhelmed, overweight, overworked, overbilled, overcome, overdosed and just plain pooped.

I'm going to take a bit of a hiatus from blogging and I hope you will understand as I try and recoop, regroup, readjust, recharge, recover and just plain relax.

Happy New Year Everyone...hope 2012 brings renewed joy and faith and happiness.

Double the pleasure, double the fun

I've been truly blessed with 2 grandsons now.....however whatever you do for one, you have to do for the other. When Ayden was born I made him a special sock monkey stocking...and now that Owen is here, well...he needed one as well.

Cup o' love

I really had fun making these for my Sew Sisters...( the staff at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co.)  They were relatively easy to put together once you got the pattern down pat. Just a little fusible batting, a bit of elastic, a button, a smidgen of quilting and lots of love. Greta little gift to give someone you really care about.

Tell me how you really feel!

This is a little mini I created for Kindred Spirits Quilt Company. Now that Christmas is over, we've all eaten too much, drank to much and partied too much...we might be Baaa Humbugging a bit!

Snowman Melt my Heart

This was a fun quilt to make. It's made utilizing the fusible grid interfacing. You just cut out 2 inch squares of fabric, iron them onto the grid interfacing, turn right sides together and stitch down the grid lines, clip, press and do it the other way. His little skates are made from gigantic paper clips....such fun too cute!

Were you naughty or nice this year?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas...

This is a sculpted Santa that I made a few years back. Still one of my favorite things to display at Christmas.

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus....

 Here comes Santa Claus now.....

This is a cute little table runner that I made a few years back. I love to bring it out each Christmas, it's one of my favorite.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.....Merry Christmas everyone!

All the stockings were hung by the chimney with care....

This is my grandson's "sock monkey" stocking. It was a paper pieced snowflake pattern from a magazine.....for the life of me I can't recall what magazine it was....   I even be-jewelled the stocking to give it some extra bling, and embroidered a little sock monkey on the cuff...he loves it!

Dresden Plates

The ladies from my Black Magic Dresden class are coming along quite nicely with their blocks. Here are Bernadette, Carol and Sue showing off their quilting. Carol started a class late, but look at her chain those pieces. The quilts should look wonderful when complete. I love the color  choices.

Goin' Squirrelly

This little hang-up is called Goin Squirrelly.  It's a pattern I designed and is for sale at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co. I'm having fun designing these little guys, even though they do take quite a bit of time. It's fun to put it all together and see it come to life.

Don't ruffle my feathers

This was a really lovely table runner to make. It's an Eleanor Burns pattern along with the co-ordinating ruler which lets you get perfect points on the turkey feathers. You have the option of making maple leaves or the turkey from the same pattern and ruler. I chose the turkey cause he's so darn cute.

Vroooooom!

The car quilt was a huge success for my grandson's Ayden's second birthday. My daughter says that he won't sleep without it and it's already been through the wash once.

So Cool Nana!

I had leftover fabric from Ayden's quilt and made him a couple of bibs. I love the binding, bought at Fabricland already made to go and at 1/2 price. Not even worth making the binding yourself at that price. I love how the black and white checker goes so well with the fabric. Looks like the flag the wave at the races.

Farmer's Wife Block 26

This block is called Cut Glass Dish, It went together relatively well, considering all the small pieces. The paper piecing patterns are a blessing. The blocks are turning out very precise.

Thanksgiving fun

Our family was invited to my sister in law's for Thanksgiving and although she always says not to bring anything, I don't like to go empty handed. I took this little cheese mice platter and a turkey veggie plate. The kids all thought it was great and everyone had fun with it.

Creative Sewing Festival

This was a fun day. My mom and I signed up at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co. for the bus trip on October 22nd to the Creative Sewing Festival in Toronto. We had such a good time that day. Michelle who owns the store offered the bus trip into Toronto and the price included your bus trip , your entry fee and loads of fun and draws on the
bus. There was a 80/20 draw.....you bought an arm's length of tickets for $5.00... 80% of the tally went to the winner and 20% went to the bus driver.....and my Mom won. It was $170.00 which was a wonderful treat for her. She insisted she pay for lunch....and I let her.

Dresden Girls...before and after

These are the ladies in my Black Magic Dresden class. They are making great headway on their quilts. Thank god for strip sewing as there were many, many Dresden plates to make. All their choices in fabric look wonderful and I can't wait to see them all complete. It's a nice pattern that teaches Dresden, some applique, setting blocks on point and sashings. Lots to learn.

Autumn House groupies

These are the ladies in my Autumn House BOM quilting class. We meet the 4th Saturday of the month at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co. to work on Bunny Hill's BOM called Autumn House. What a great group of ladies, we have so much fun. By the time the quilt is complete they will all be sick of applique ha ha experts in applique.

Anything to save a buck

I'd thought I'd seen it all...that was until Elaine brought her crazy 8 block into the store. Crazy 8's is a BOM whereby if you come on your scheduled Saturday with your completed block, you get the next one free. If by chance you don't get it done, you pay $8.00. I laughed my ass off sides sore when Elaine brought her completed block in. It wasn't sewn, but pinned very carefully to resemble the month's block...she tried to tell Michelle that the power had been out and she wasn't able to sew it and it wasn't really her fault and could she forgo the $8.00 fee as she would have had it done....ya da, yada, yada.....I think  Michelle just let it go as it was just so damn funny.   She did do a really good job of pinning though.

An apple a day keeps the Doctor away

This was fun to make. It's the pattern from Heather Bailey called Fresh Picked. It called for interfacing so that the bias pieces don't stretch, but it allowed me to try out Sulky's Sticky Fabri-Solvy. I just stuck the stabilizer to the fabric, cut out the pattern and  sewed. Worked wonderfully. I like to do give-a-ways at my quilt classes and this little beauty was won by Kathie at my Farmer's Wife class.
