blogging adds another dimension of things that take moments of our precious time. I have enjoyed blogging, your comments and all the positive feedback you have shared with me. However I struggle to balance time constraints vs all the things I want to do and want to get done. So something's gotta give and that happens to be the blog.

It's not that I won't be posting my projects, your projects and other goodies...I'm just trying to simplify things and will be posting to pinterest as an alternative. It will be virtually the same, without the commentary.....<strike>.never thought I would be at a loss for words,</strike> however this avenue works better for me, lifestyle wise.

The blog will continue to stay open on the site so you can always go back and look at projects that were posted there.

Keep on quilting!

So this is my segue to let you know I will be on hiatus until the first week of March. Dear Hubby and I are away for three weeks, heading out to Florida.
I had to make myself a couple of sunglass cases as I couldn’t find a large enough case to fit my glasses. I had a little piece of sunglass fabric which was perfect for the project. I used Bosal’s Soft and Stable as batting to make the cases extra sturdy.
They turned out just perfect. Now I’m ready to fly!
This is the last of six bibs I made for my niece Candice. It started with Einstein fabric….I paired the two fabric together, then added a little tag I had in my stash. The little tag reads Geek in Training which seemed perfect.
My niece Candice is expecting her first child in April. They have decided to wait and see what the sex of the baby is, but they have picked out names….Emily for a girl or John for a boy. I thought it would be best to be prepared with a bib for either name.
I embroidered Emily onto the top half of the bib and added a little heart button to emphasize the I.
And when I say I while ago, I mean it.

It was very cool looking and that’s why it probably caught my eye, but when I started to sew it up I got to thinking if I would really use it. The more I thought about it and looked at the design, the more it got me to thinking…this would make a really cool couture diaper bag….and I just happen to have a niece who is expecting. Wonders never cease.

As I was finishing the bag up I retrofitted it to the needs of a young mom on the go. It has a place for diaper wipes and cream along with fabric elasticized bands to hold a baby bottle upright.

I made a matching waterproof change pad and a special holder for the soother so it would never get lost…..been there done that!

Everything stores nice and compact and it looks fashionable as well as practical.

Leslie's Itchin to be Stitchinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03049778136145840538noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8425832551005848611.post-78824501730909339052015-02-01T11:00:00.000-05:002015-02-01T11:00:03.015-05:00Holy Giant Oreo Batman!

Dear youngest Son celebrated a milestone birthday recently....21....
a milestone for both of us....his sort of coming of age, although 21 is hardly the norm these days, it's more like 16 or 18. A milestone for me as well as he's the last one, the baby is now a young man. Where did those years go?
We celebrated with an awesome Oreo Cookie cake which was a HUGE hit, pardon the pun. The cake disappeared in a record time frame...next day it was completely devoured.
I liked it as it was super easy peasy to make and looked like I slaved all day. Just this simple two layer pan from Sonoma Williams, a Duncan Hines cake mix and a jar of pre made white icing and voila.
I loved that you didn't actually even have to ice the whole cake, just the middle!
The whole thing is just a bit TOO big to dip though!
I love the border and backing that MaryLynn just happened upon, it’s the perfect match for the main fabric. So cute with the little bones all over it. The parrot block is complete for Amy Bradley's Pirate Bom that we are hosting at Kindred Spirits Quilt Co.It’s a delightful quilt that is available in either a little boy or girl version. I've opted for the boy version as I have grandsons and I’m sure one of them will be the lucky recipient eventually.
The details in the pattern are wonderful and quite comical. I’ve had such fun completing them. Quite a few more to go, but I’m keeping on track. I’ve taken it in my stride, thinking I’m looking not bad for 59…..

*_)!*_*_&$_!*$_*_!(_#(!_#(!_#(….. well that was until today.

Dear Darling Mother is in Cayman on a 3 week vacation with my sister, visiting Dear Uncle, and she left my birthday present with my son to give me on the special day…today.

How sweet, I think, as I open the package, reading the lovely card, then reaching into the depths of the pretty birthday bag to retrieve, not 1 but 2 larger than life boxes of RIVITALIFT. One for daytime and one for nightime….

Now is that subtle or what? Dear mother rarely says anything with regards to my looks…she often will say…”you look so nice with your hair cut short”, that’s her being subtle and hinting she wants me to get it cut.

Once when I was debating buying a funky new shirt when we were together shopping, she looked at me and said “ are you on your period?”,<strike>that was subtle wasn’t it,</strike> needless to say, that shirt did not come home with me.

Dear mother can be so subtle, as with the gift today, just a subtle hint that the grand canyon crevices that I proudly wear and consider more like laugh and life lines, <strike>I have friggin earned every one of them by the way,</strike> (half of them are from her), now need to be lathered and saturated twice a day.

<strike>Like I have time for that.</strike>

At least I have a few weeks to think of a way to thank her for the gift.

By the way on the box it states that in one week 72% of women saw skins' overall appearance visibly improve, in 4 weeks, 72% of women saw improved skin elasticity, and 76% of women saw smoother looking skin.

First….I’d like to know what happened to the other poor 28% of women? Did their skin worsen? Did they commit suicide?

I’m hoping that I’m in the 72% range and that Dear Mother won’t recognize me when she gets home!

Bless her heart!
Leslie's Itchin to be Stitchinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03049778136145840538noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8425832551005848611.post-53137878190651141652015-01-27T23:37:00.000-05:002015-01-27T23:37:00.504-05:00Pretty in Pink

This is a sweet little pincushion offered by Me and My Sister Designs.
